Exciting news out of Singapore! The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Singapore recently announced its new Board leadership and Committee Co-Chairs for 2017.
James Sampson, Vice President & General Manager of DataXu APAC, will join the board along with other distinguished members across a wide section of industry players from publisher, agency and technology platforms alike. A longtime member of the IAB Singapore, James has served as co-chair of the Programmatic Committee since 2015.
“I am very excited and humbled to be elected to this elite group. Southeast Asia is a collection of high growth markets where we hope to increase the adoption of quality digital advertising through awareness, standards and education initiatives,” he commented.
This year’s election process was spread over a two-week voting period and was exclusive to IAB members. As of 2017 the IAB APAC has expanded its total board members from eight to 12, reflecting the growth of digital advertising across the region. In the latest IAB APAC ad spend report, digital ad spending is projected to be 44.4% of the total media budget in APAC. That figure is set increase to 53.5% by 2020. Increased demand for mobile, video and social media advertising will drive this growth. Advertisers in Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam have been slow to adopt digital in the past. As we look ahead however, due to rapid internet adoption (particularly through smartphones), digital ad spending will begin to surge in those markets.
DataXu is a proud supporter of the IAB, and James is looking forward to bringing his extensive programmatic industry knowledge to the IAB’s Board.
