Last week, Chef Ming Tsai visited our Boston headquarters as part of our on-going Author Series. We couldn’t wait to welcome Chef Ming to the Xu, as many of us have been frequent visitors to his new restaurant here in the Fort Point Channel, Blue Dragon.
Ming came by to sign copies of his new book, Simply Ming in Your Kitchen, and to chat with the team about his favorite recipes from the book, how he got to where he is today after majoring in mechanical engineering and an awesome event happening in mid May to support the One Fund!
Some highlights from his visit:
- On the explosion of new dining options in the area: Chef Ming is psyched about some of the new restaurants that are coming to and have recently opened in the area, including: new ventures from Mario Batilli, Seth Greenberg of Mistral’s, Pastoral from Todd Winer and George Lewis, Jeremy Sewall of Island Creek Oyster, and recently opened Tavern Road from brothers Louis and Michael DiBiccari
- On Simply Ming in Your Kitchen: According to Chef Ming, this is the first book of its kind; each recipe has a QR code that leads to a shopping list. Chef wants this book and its recipes to help people cook awesome meals at home. Another fun fact: Ming did all his own food styling, and each recipe also has a corresponding full length, step by step video, found on his website.
- On the big event announcement: Chef actually spilled the beans to the DataXu team a little bit early (we promised not to tweet it!) about Boston Bites Back, the chef-led fundraiser happening on May 15 at Fenway Park! The list of participating chefs reads like a Who’s Who of the Boston culinary scene, and all proceeds support the One Fund. Get tickets here!
Chef Ming, thanks for visiting DataXu!
