Meet Amelia Ackerman, a Sales Coordinator based in the Chicago office. As a relatively new XuKeeper of just six months, Amelia played a part in organizing our 2017 Sales Kick Off (SKO) in South Carolina and enjoys the sweeter things in life (like Starburst and Slushies).
How do you explain your work to your friends/family?
Long story short, I manage multiple calendars, and make sure that the Chicago office is happy and full!
How did you land at DataXu?
I recently graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a major in Public Relations. The opportunity to work at DataXu presented itself, I went to lunch with the a few members of the Central team in Chicago, and I knew immediately it was going to be a perfect fit for me.
DataXu’s core values are: Excellence, Collaboration, Innovation, Trust and Customer Obsession… the value that resonates with you most is….
Collaboration! In the six short months I have been with DataXu, everyone I have crossed paths with or worked with has been amazing. We can’t all do it alone…obviously! Collaboration has been one of the main contributing factors for making my first job experience so incredible.
If you weren’t doing this for a living, what might you have ended up doing instead?
I’ve been watching a lot of Fixer Upper on HGTV, so I would like to think that I would be an interior designer. However, more realistically, I love working with kids. If I were not here at DataXu, I could see myself teaching at an inner-city school.
What would you say is your greatest strength that translates to the workplace?
My willingness to learn. There have been a lot of adjustments in starting this role, but hey, who doesn’t love to learn new things!
What is your life motto?
“Write it on a Post-it.”
Favorite perk of working at DataXu?
My favorite perk of working at DataXu would have to be the office lunches… and my colleagues!
Favorite snack in the DataXu kitchen?
Starburst, I love my sweets.
Favorite DataXu memory?
SKO 2017 – I was lucky enough to help plan and execute SKO this year in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Being a part of the process from the very beginning was a great experience. The feedback and time spent with all of the attendees made all of the hard work (and occasional headaches) well worth it!
If you could have coffee with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
I feel like I should have a better answer, but the first person that comes to mind is Chrissy Teigen. She’s hilarious and loves to cook, so we would get along just great. Not because I’m hilarious, but because I love to cook.
What is a fun fact about you?
I recently became obsessed with the HGTV channel. Also, I write literally everything on Post-it notes.
